Sales Promotion and Personal Selling: Sales Promotion

Most of MAC Cosmestics Sales Promotions take place online. Their promotinos consist of free shipping and promotional coodes which are also known as online coupons. The coupons do not consist of a discount of any sort, it is just so that you are entitled to free shipping of a certain product. Most of the products that you receive free shipping to are the limited edition collections. So, this month most of the Holiday 2009 "Magic, Mischeif, and Mirth" collection is skyrocking sales right now. Sales for this collection are sky rocking right now because it is getting closer to the holiday season, which makes it easier for the consumer to purchase gifts from this collections. Especially, for people whom are starters to make up to those whom are make up attics. I would most likely say that these sales promotions definately work, because you cannot beat free shipping. And most limited collections are sold out by the end of the month, which makes it even better for a consumer whom does not have a near MAC Pro store or a MAC coounter to purchase from. There are also other promotional codes online for free shipping, anyone is eligible for free shipping, you just have to research online to educate yourself further more on getting the promotional code.

Advertisting and Pulbic Relations: Public Relations

MAC has used its cosmestic in this year's Fashion Week on runnways, advertistments, Fashion Night Out, and etc.. MAC also has its offical website that you can look at different looks that the MAC Professional Artist create.

I absoultely thought that the Fashion Week public relations was a great idea. It definately put MAC's name out their as a brand, and as a great cosmestic company. It was also great for those designers whom wished a high fashion look for their runway along with their high fashion courture gowns, outfits. Since MAC is known as a stage make up collection, it fits in well in the fashion world, because of its vibrant colors. I feel like it definately helped the brand to reach those whom were looking for a similar fashion runway look in their everyday lives such as going out or for an everyday look.

Advertisiting and Public Relations: Advertisting

Magic, Mirth, and Mischeif is MAC's Holiday 2009 advertistment. As you can see this advertistment is marketed to look very holidayish using reds and silvers, celebrating the New Year coming up. Of course like every month it is a limited collection. But this collection is unique because it has a wide variety of selections to choose from, it has its different catergories within its collection, such as eyes, lip, blushes, and brushes have their own section that come with a kit. The eyeshadows and pigments(loose eyeshadows) have their own kits as well as brushes, lip glosses, and blushes etc.. This collection is a great for gifts during the holiday season, especially to someone who has an obession with MAC or just someone whom is starting to wear MAC. Its great for anyone ! The price is also worth it, because you would usually spend like $19.50 on one single pigment that will last you for the rest of your life. (because your only suppose to use a little bit anyway, and they really aren't a part of everyday make up) But with the pigment kits you spend $32.50 on three pigments PLUS a glitter(regular one is $19.50) and it'll last you about the same. Which is AMAZING!

I must also add that I purchased one of the pigment kits. I asked which kit came with LIMITED edition pigments that are not in the oringial collection. MAC tends to add the same or similar colors to their limited collections, and what your bascially paying for is the packaging. Which is a little ridiculous. The pigment kit that I purchased was "5 Haute High Jinks Warm Mini Pigment/Glitter." I will post a picture of my lovely kit. =)

Pricing:

MAC has an odd way of pricing. Their pricing online is visible for all to see, but yet when you visit a MAC counter you will not find a price on any of the product. Yes this goes back to excellent customer service. But before you ask for the price of the product, you usually always try it on first, see how it works, what's its purpose, and eventually would like to purchase the item. Without knowing the price you want to purchase the product because it was visibly proven to you how well it works. MAC's pricing is no where near regular drugstore make-up pricing is, its far more which range from 14.50 to at least $30 in product and $40+ in MAC tools. Trying on product first, before actually asking for the price, causes a higher demand in buying MAC !

Pricing: Demand and Supply

This wonderful cosmetic company is more of a demand only company. It's like the example in the chapter on page 265 that states,

" At a price of $3, the public would demand only 35 packages of gournment cookies. However, the suppliers stand ready to place 140 packages on the market at this price."

Their suppliers might stand ready to hold more cosmestics on the market considering that there are several more raw materials in cosmestics than food, such as oil, wax, gluetin, iodine, and bromine for the lips and many more ingredients. Mineral mica(for shine), titanium dioxide(for shine), goniochromism( for the color that appears), fish scales for the eyes and many more. As a result, having a higher demand in supply for other markets, and MAC's market itself.

Retailing: E-Tailing

E-tailing, E-tailing !! E-tailing has become such a flexible sense of retail. It is obiviously opened 24 hours due to the Internet always being accessible for anyone. MAC has many discount e-tailing websites such as www.allcosmeticswholesale.com and many others. Their products can be found on e-bay as well. MAC Cosmetics also has their own website of course www.maccosmetics.com which sells just about any product that ships to your home, along with make up tutorials from the professional MAC artist.
